Artisan use applies to vehicles used by skilled tradespeople (like plumbers, electricians, carpenters, etc.) to carry tools, equipment, or materials to job sites.

  • Driven to and from multiple job sites during the day.

  • Typically used by the owner.

  • Not used for delivering goods or carrying passengers for hire.

  • Often returns to a home or main base each night.

  • Tools or equipment are usually kept in the vehicle.

  • A plumber driving a van with tools to different client homes.

  • A roofer transporting materials and ladders to job sites.

Business Use 

  • Driven by the policyholder for business-related tasks.

  • Includes travel to multiple business locations in a day.

  • No carrying of heavy equipment or tools regularly (that would be artisan or commercial).

  • Often used by sales reps, consultants, realtors, or professionals who use their car to go to different offices or meetings.
